During summer 2018, AEC celebrated two new warehouse openings with Costco:  Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Woodstock, Georgia.  Both warehouses feature over 148,000 square feet of retail, fresh produce, tire service center and fuel sales.  The Mt. Pleasant warehouse is located within Carolina Park community ( https://carolinapark.com/ ) while the Woodstock location is located within the Ridgewalk Landing development, just east of The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta on Ridgewalk Parkway.
AEC provided due diligence and feasibility studies related to the site selection as well as civil engineering and landscape architecture design services for these Costco projects.  T.D. Farrell ( https://www.tdfarrell.com/ ) was the General Contractor for Costco Wholesale.

Jacob's Ladder

Jacob's Ladder, the Roswell-based Neurodevelopmental School and Therapy Center,  has recently expanded its campus.

In 2016, the residence next door was purchased and converted into offices and therapy stations. The campus desperately needed additional parking spaces for staff and parents as well as an access road from the main site to the converted offices.

AEC was charged with providing rezoning services and a site plan that met the demands of the growing campus without disturbing the surrounding tree save areas or the stream buffer backing the property.

With construction effort now complete,  Jacob's Ladder occupies the renovated facility and enjoys the much needed on-site parking.

Roswell Fire Station Grand Opening

8/25/2017

The Roswell Fire Station #4 opened it's oversized doors back in June of this year. The official "hose cutting" was attended by members of the public, Mayor Jere Wood, and Brad Riffel and DeChaun Adams-Lee from AEC.

The City of Roswell's commitment to raising water quality standards figured heavily in AEC's design. Setting an example for future projects, AEC took a stringent approach to erosion and sediment control. Multiple BMPs were implemented such as grass filter strips, grass channels, and bioretention swales in series.

The station's unique design also features total surface drainage to multiple bioretention areas, eliminating the need for an underground stormwater network.

AEC's final grading plan for the site.
In an effort to balance the site without costly haul-off, earthen mounds flanking the station were incorporated into the detention design.

The "before".  It's amazing how much a site can change in under two years.

Mountain Walk Development Preserves Iconic Mountain Biscuits Restaurant

9/10/2015

Construction has begun on the new Mountain Walk mixed use development in Cobb County.  The project includes 54 townhomes, 8,000 square feet of office and AEC was able to work around and greatly enhance the existing Mountain Biscuits Restaurant.

The initial zoning plan showed the existing restaurant to be removed, but after gaining the input from the surrounding residents it became clear that all efforts needed to be made to preserve Mountain Biscuit.  The developer, Cornerstone Associates, and AEC worked closely with surrounding residents, the Cobb County Staff and Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell to rework the design to preserve the existing Mountain Biscuits Restaurant.

In addition to preserving the restaurant, the design team was able to enhance the access by introducing a dedicated left turn lane, adding additional asphalt parking for the restaurant and enhancing the landscape along the frontage of Old Highway 41.  So the next time you are in the area of Historic Kennesaw Mountain, stop in and have one of the best meals in Cobb County!
