Roswell Fire Station Grand Opening

8/25/2017

The Roswell Fire Station #4 opened it's oversized doors back in June of this year. The official "hose cutting" was attended by members of the public, Mayor Jere Wood, and Brad Riffel and DeChaun Adams-Lee from AEC.

The City of Roswell's commitment to raising water quality standards figured heavily in AEC's design. Setting an example for future projects, AEC took a stringent approach to erosion and sediment control. Multiple BMPs were implemented such as grass filter strips, grass channels, and bioretention swales in series.

The station's unique design also features total surface drainage to multiple bioretention areas, eliminating the need for an underground stormwater network.

AEC's final grading plan for the site.
In an effort to balance the site without costly haul-off, earthen mounds flanking the station were incorporated into the detention design.

The "before".  It's amazing how much a site can change in under two years.

AEC Says goodbye to summer intern

8/17/2017

Last week, AEC had to send off one of our fantastic summer interns, Chen Qu.

Since coming on board with our landscape architecture department back in May, Chen worked her way across the landscape spectrum on several local projects. She helped develop tree protection and replacement plans, ventured into the field for tree assessments and punch lists, hand-sketched concept drawings, and even dabbled in grading for our civil side. She also beefed up her excel and AutoCAD skills by taking on several office standardization/streamlining efforts.

Chen will be returning to the University of Georgia to continue down the path of becoming a landscape architect.

We appreciate all her hard work and wish her the best with her studies!
